  • Make sure the building is strong after all the elements can steal your treasures.
  • Plan how long you are going to store and place the items you will most need to the front of your unit
  • Make sure the hours the storage facility is open matches your needs
  • When you size your space take in to account the height. Volume of your space should be considered i.e. 10x10 could be reduced to 7x10. This will give you an instant saving.
  • Cover furniture with light blankets sheets or moving pads depending on care needed.
  • DO NOT and we repeat DO NOT store combustible items that means any tank that has fuel in it i.e. lawn mowers, motor bikes etc without speaking to management.
  • Where possible use pallets to keep items off the floor in your unit
  • Leave an aisle in the center of your unit so that you have a walk way to the back of the unit.
  • Use free standing shelves to help arrange your unit
  • Label all boxes on all sides
  • Disassemble all items that you can to save space and money
  • When you disassemble electronics, such as computers, stereos, things that have numerous cords, place numbered stickers on the cord and the same numbered sticker where the cord goes. This will save you the hassle of trying to figure out what goes where when it comes time to reassemble your electronics
  • Clean and dry all appliances are before storing them. Leave appliances slightly ajar to prevent mildew.
  • Store couches on end
  • Stack chairs seat to seat
    • Use inside of draws appliances to store small items
    • Use paper pads between items to avoid scratching
    • Painting and mirrors on end not flat
    • Clothing in wardrobe boxes or on hangers
    • Collectables tape after wrapping use bubble wrap.
  •   Purchase the insurance. If your belongings are worth storing, they are worth insuring.
